Onam
is a festival celebrated by the people of Kerala, India. The festival
commemorates the Vamana avatar of Vishnu and the subsequent homecoming of the
legendary Emperor Mahabali. It is the state festival of Kerala and falls during
the month of Chingam (August – September) and lasts for ten days. The 10days are marked with various festivities.
The
students and faculty members of the Good Shepherd Finishing School celebrated
this festival with great gusto. An elaborate banquet lunch on Wednesday, 29
August 2012 was the highlight. The Central Atrium displayed an intricate flower
carpet made by the students.
