Four days of
absolute fun. That would sum up the ambience at GSFS during the Ballroom Dance
Workshop 2013. The 9 month students were taught two of the most famous types of
ballroom dances – Jive and Salsa. The fast tempo and character of the Jive made
it an instant hit among these dance lovers.
Jive and Salsa
are performed at social gatherings, competitions, weddings, and now, dance
festivals. Weight shifts, fast up-and-down shoulder movements, spins, rolls and
hip shakes characterise this dance.
Our students
were tutored by two experienced trainers from the industry. They taught them
the steps, positions, turns, holds and movements of the two dance forms, and
also the choice of songs that needs to go with the dance steps.
At the
Ballroom dance workshop, the ladies of the 3 months batch at GSFS, swung their
hips to swanky Latin and Salsa music. They spent hours on 2nd and 3rd
August, 2013.
Having
transformed by pop culture in the last two centuries, Jive and Salsa emerged as
favourites for youngsters all over the world. Our girls, too, enjoyed to the
maximum. Jiving to fast numbers, they were at their best, picking up cues on
music, styles, costumes and accessories.
The eight-count
rhythm Salsa, with its African-American beats and movements, was much liked by
the girls. They learnt the necessary turns, shakes and spins.
Congratulations
